Description

A unique experience by an Historic Mountain Railway through the Alps beyond canyons, viaducts and tunnels discovering hidden treasures, unknown by most of the French Riviera's visitors. Passing along our biggest & longest alpine river, we will go through surprising Alps' gems & by unspoiled luxuriant nature made of scattered with perched villages, cultures, valleys, forests & highest peaks in the background. We will visit 2 villages during the day: a 1st village is classified with the label: 'One of the nicest village of France' with a great medieval architecture, a beautiful Baroque Cathedral, massive fortifications & draw-bridges. Let’s get higher and higher for the spectacular perspectives from the towers: 30-45mn walk through the gates until a unique perched Castle (which tell us the story of this important Royal stronghold). ⚠️ 200 meters (600 feets) of height difference, good physical conditions required. The 2nd village is so special: we will guide you through a very nice maze of tiny streets built on sandstone blocks, troglodyte houses & optionally (sporty) the most beautiful hiking you could imagine through a Mystic Forest (centuries old chestnuts trees), mysterious caves & sandstone giant blocks (paradise for hiking lovers, fans of cliffhanging, mushroom pickers & geologist researchers). If you are not sporty enough for the hiking we can propose you short walks around the village & possibility of: free time in the lovely village, tastings of local food with wines or pastries (early dinner possible - not included) and playing bocces with our group or locals. Important Information

• As this tour involves a lot of walking, it is advised to wear comfortable and good shoes. Dress appropriately to the weather the day of the tour
• A good physical condition is required for this tour (includes between 7km to 15km of walking in the villages, short hiking options offered)
• Bring a towel and swimsuit if you would like to take refreshing dip in the river (and tell us by advance to see if the itinerary can be adapted - only summer hot season)
