French Riviera Beaches
The French Riviera with its worldwide fame as the location for earth's most glamorous beaches, often see’s people getting a small shock when they realise that some of the beaches are in fact pebble. St-Tropez, Cannes and isolated bits around Fréjus and Antibes have sandy waterfronts, hence their legendary popularity. Many beaches are privately operated, renting parasols and mattresses to anyone who pays; if you're a guest at one of the local hotels on the Riviera, you'll get a discount. Fees for private beaches average 10 -15 euros per day for a mattress plus a parasol. Private beaches alternate with open stretches of public frontage.
