Frenchriviera
Isola 2000 is one of the most popular of the Mercantour Ski Resorts in the South of France. It covers an area of 120 km and has a wide variety of slopes for varying abilities.
The resort itself is only an hour and half by coach from Nice airport and you can get a day's ski pass with travel included for just 30 Euro, which for this area is great value. If you choose to drive then there's plenty of parking just be sure to get there early to avoid the rush.
Isola 2000 is great for the intermediate skier with 11 Red slopes and 21 Blue runs. For the more advanced skier there are only 3 Black runs but if you're just learning to ski then there is a great nursery slope and 7 Green runs once you find your feet.
The whole resort is easily accessible with 20 different lifts including a cable car for pedestrians, a conveyor belt, two cableways, 7 chair lifts and 10 T bar lifts. Located in the central plateau is the snow park, a purpose built area just for boarders which is maintained daily and contains impressive features including a half pipe amongst others and a beginners area.
Isola 2000 has it all and there is always something going from cultural and sporting activities to snowboarding and cross country skiing clubs as well as activities for the children. You can have lessons here too and the instructors speak a wide variety of languages including English, Italian, Spanish and German as well as French.
An adult day ski pass will cost you Euro 28,80 but there are several different ski passes and season passes on offer. Their website is informative and also displayed in English so worth checking out before you go, especially for the snow report.
