Musee Matisse de Nice
Frenchriviera
The museum has been welcoming visitors since January 1963 to see the collection of works left to the city of Nice by the artist and his heirs.
Nice and the Hotel Regina (close to the Gallo-Roman ruins) was home to Henri Matisse from 1918 until his death in 1954 aged 85. The building itself is a fantastic work of art in it's own right with lovely views over the ruins. A really interesting day out if you can make it.
The entrance fee is 4 Euros for adults and 2,50 Euros for Students and Groups. Under 18s can enter free of charge. Information is given in English for his permanent works although the temporary exhibitions are all in French.
Bus no's 15, 17, 20, 22 & 25 will take you to one of the four entrances via the park and while there is no parking available at the Musee Matisse there is a free shuttle service running from the Musee Chagall where parking is included.
